Dorothy's Testimony
8 November 2000

My parents were both Christians and faithfully attended church and Sunday School, and, of course, they took their six children with them. In our younger days it was held, mostly, in a country school house, and we went by wagon.

I was quite young when I heard you had to make a personal decision and receive Jesus Christ for yourself or you would be lost when you died, and go to hell which burned with fire and brimstone. Your parents couldn’t do it for you and you didn’t just automatically become a Christian because your parents were. I went forward in an evangelistic meeting. Everyone seemed to think it was great, but no Scripture was given to me that I can remember.

Then when I was a teenager I went forward again. I was older and knew more what I was doing. Still no Scripture was given to me that I could stand on for assurance. It was just the thing to do.

Then after I was married I heard people give their testimony saying they knew they were saved. This made me wonder how they could really know. Then a man by the name of Mr. Young invited me to a Bible Study. He said to me, "Dorothy if you will come you will know how to be saved, what saved you, and you will know you are saved." Well, that was exactly what I wanted to know.

I never missed a Bible Study and I learned from God’s Word - 1 John 5:11, 12, 13 - "And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that YE MAY KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

This changed my life and I never doubted my salvation again. God’s Word is true!

God wants us to know this and make sure we are ready when God says come.

God’s grace is wonderful. By trusting Him you have joy and peace. He will never leave you or forsake you. It is the most important decision of your whole life. It is free for us, but it was paid for by Jesus Christ’s death on the cross.

John 14:6 - Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me."
